Due to the popularity of Bella Voce events and limited supply of available tickets, we strongly encourage you to get your tickets today for this once-in-a-lifetime performance right here in Rochester! You won’t want to miss this power house performance as Bella Voce Young Women’s Choir sings with internationally-acclaimed opera diva Esther Heideman, accompanied by Rochester’s own amazing pianist Horacio Nuguid. Hear the stunning melodies of operatic favorites, including Mozart’s “Et Incarnatus Est” from Mass in C minor, “Alleluia” from Exsultate Jubilate, “Laughing Song” from the Strauss opera Die Fledermaus, Handel’s beautiful “Rejoice Greatly” from the Messiah, “Habañera” from Bizet’s opera Carmen, and many more. Selections performed by the choir will round out the evening, including the world-premiere of a Z. Randall Stroope piece commissioned for Mary Ellen Malkasian and Bella Voce. “Angelic” is the word most often used to describe the silvery, pure, sweet tone of Esther Heideman's vocal artistry. In 2000, she won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and the Licia Albanese Competition. In 2001, she made her Metropolitan Opera debut singing Pamina in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. Esther has performed with major orchestras throughout the United States and Europe, including the New York Philharmonic, Baltimore Symphony, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Boston Baroque, Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra, Aspen Music Festival, Orquestra del Gran Teatre del Liceu, and the Rotterdam Philharmonic. In addition to performing, Esther enjoys teaching lessons and master classes and sharing her knowledge and experience with young performers.
Horacio Nuguid has been inspiring and captivating audiences with elegance and beautiful tone since winning the top prize at the Phillippines National Music Competition for Young Artists. He subsequently completed the Master of Music Degree at the University of Northern Iowa and the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. He has performed numerous solo recitals in major cities such as Manila, Lucerne, Chicago, San Jose, Minneapolis and St. Paul and has collaborated with symphonies in Manila, Austin, Kankakee, St. Cloud, and Rochester.
